Box Score GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team fell to the Furman Paladins on Friday in the first round of the 2017 Southern Conference Tennis Championships.
Furman claimed victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take an early 1-0 lead. Adam Steryous, Clarke Wilson and Trevor Croyder won at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 singles positions to secure the 4-0 win for Furman. The Paladins will play in the semifinal match Saturday at 2 p.m. against the winner of the Mercer vs. Samford match.
The Bulldogs finished the regular season with 11 victories, including their first SoCon win since 2009, their highest overall win total under head coach
Chuck Kriese and the program's most wins in a season since 2008.
