Tennis Opens Home Slate Against Eastern Washington Saturday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's tennis team opened the 2018 campaign with eight straight matches on the road, and on Saturday, Jan. 27, the Bulldogs will finally have the opportunity to play at home for the first time this season.
The Bulldogs (0-7) and the Eagles (0-1) were originally slated to start action at the Earle Tennis Center at 2 p.m., but due to the threat of inclement weather moving into the area, the match will get under way at 12 p.m.
"We wanted to make sure that we made every attempt to get this match in since Eastern Washington came all this way to play us," said head coach Chuck Kriese. "We are looking forward to playing at home this weekend. We have made some great strides against some very tough SEC and ACC opponents, and I believe it has made us better prepared for Saturday's match."
While the Bulldogs have played seven matches against SEC and ACC foes and opened the season with a round-robin tournament against Florida A&M, the Eagles have played just two matches so far, including at Washington and at USC Upstate. The Eagles are currently on a three-match road swing in the state of South Carolina, which will conclude at Coastal Carolina on Sunday, Jan. 28.

The Bulldogs will next head to Sumter, South Carolina, to take part in the Sumter Spring Collegiate. The tournament will span Friday, Feb. 2 and Saturday, Feb. 3. The Citadel will not play at home until Saturday, March 3 when the Bulldogs host East Carolina for a doubleheader.
