21st-Ranked Bulldogs Fall to Ninth-Ranked Falcons

RESULTS

CHARLESTON, S.C. –
The 21st-ranked Citadel co-ed rifle team followed up Saturday's strong performance against the ninth-ranked Air Force Academy and 24th-ranked VMI by posting an aggregate score of 4536 against the Falcons at the Inouye Marksmanship Center Sunday.

"Being able to get two matches in against a quality opponent like Air Force helps us as we aim to close out the season on a high note in the coming weeks," said head coach William Smith. "While the scores weren't quite at the same level as yesterday, I was pleased that we came ready to compete two days in a row. That will help us when we host the SoCon Championships and further on down the road."

The Air Force Academy took the dual meet with an aggregate score of 4684 over the Bulldogs' 4536. The Falcons claimed the top seven spots and nine of the top-10 led by Anna Weilbacher's 1176 aggregate score.

Junior Allison Auten posted an eighth-place finish with an aggregate score of 1150, comprised of a 566 in smallbore and a 584 in air rifle. Her smallbore score placed her ninth in the discipline while her air rifle score was the seventh-best score of the morning.

Behind Auten, freshman Max Brabston posted an 1133 aggregate score made up of a 553 in smallbore and a 580 in air rifle. Sophomore Alexander McAlear was third on the team with an 1128 aggregate score (555 smallbore, 573 air rifle) and senior Colton Poole rounded out the top-four for the Bulldogs with an 1125 (553 smallbore, 572 air rifle).

Senior Morgan Long shot an 1122 aggregate score, made up of a 550 in smallbore and a 572 in air rifle and junior Leah Wallace rounded out The Citadel's lineup with an 1112 aggregate score (542 smallbore, 570 air rifle).
