Weekend Preview: Rifle Hosts UAB, Wofford Saturday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The 21st-ranked Citadel mixed rifle team will continue the current three-match homestand on Saturday, Oct. 13 with a tri-match featuring No. 24 UAB and Wofford.

Action will get underway at 8 a.m. and the entire day can be followed HERE.

The Blazers have already competed in three matches so far this season, including opening the season at 15th-ranked Memphis on Saturday, Sept. 22, where they competed against the Tigers, 20th-ranked UT Martin and No. 10 Jacksonville State. Michael Dietz has led the Blazers in all three matches so far this season with Zoe Lum and Sophia Flores just behind.

Wofford opened the season two weeks ago at home against UAB, falling to the Blazers. Daniel Wesson led the way for the Terriers in the match with Scott Condo and Marcus Stallings following close behind.

The Bulldogs opened the home portion of the 2018-19 schedule last weekend with a match featuring ninth-ranked NC State and No. 19 North Georgia. The Citadel finished the tri-match with an aggregate score of 4553, led by sophomore Max Brabston and freshman Izzie Blystone.

Brabston recorded a 567 in three-position smallbore, finishing sixth in the discipline before ending his day eighth in air rifle with a 578.

Blystone, competing in smallbore for the first time at the collegiate level, finished eighth with a 566. She then finished 11th in air with a new personal record of 575.

Senior Allison Auten finished third on the co-ed team with an 1137, including 564 in smallbore and a 573 in air.

Alexander McAlear was fourth on the team with an 1130 and Leah Wallace finished fifth on the squad with a 1098. McAlear posted a 558 in smallbore and a 572 in air rifle while Wallace shot a 534 in smallbore and a 564 in air rifle.

Shay Littlejohn led the women's team with a 1062, including 516 in smallbore and a 546 in air. Lauren Pringle finished her day with a 1053, including a 505 in smallbore and a 548 in air rifle. Tierra Price and Abby Koger rounded out the women's foursome with a 1017 and a 948.
