How it Happened
  • Special teams played a big role early in the game as Matthew Campbell booted a 43-yard punt that rolled out of bounds at the one-yard line.
  • After the defense forced a three-and-out, and a personal foul penalty on the punt return, Jacob Godek stepped up and tied his season high with a 44-yard field goal.
  • After a Furman touchdown gave the Paladins their first lead, the Bulldogs offense used a 30-yard strike from Jordan Black to Grant Drakeford to get into the red-zone. Four plays later, Black went over the top for a one-yard score.
  • With The Citadel trailing by four in the third quarter, the Paladins flipped the field in a major way as the punter took advantage of the wind for an 81-yard punt.
  • The Bulldogs had a quick response to the punt as Black hit Raleigh Webb on the post for a 91-yard scoring strike.
  • Furman would take the lead with a score early in the fourth quarter, then score on a turnover as the Bulldogs looked to mount a late scoring drive.

Inside the Numbers
  • The 91-yard pass from Jordan Black to Raleigh Webb was the longest pass play in school history. The old record was an 84-yard pass play from Lee Glaze to John Murphy against Davidson in 1983.
  • Black finished the game 8-of-16 for 161 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed 22 times for 62 yards and a score.
  • It is the third time this season Black has rushed for and thrown a touchdown pass in the same game.
  • The Bulldogs finished with 157 yards on the ground and 161 through the air. It marked the second-straight game against Furman the Bulldogs had more passing yards than rushing yards.
  • Ryan McCarthy saw his first action at wide receiver and finished with three catches for 27 yards.
  • Willie Eubanks, III led the defense with 13 tackles, including seven solo stops. He also added three tackles-for-loss and a sack.
  • The 13 tackles are the most for a Bulldog since Kailik Williams made 14 stops against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 17, 2016.
  • Noah Dawkins was also in double figures with 11 tackles, including half a sack.
  • The Citadel finished with three sacks and 12 tackles-for-loss.
  • Joseph Randolph, II had another strong game with seven tackles, three tackles-for-loss and a sack.
  • Punter Matthew Campbell averaged 43.4 yards on seven punts. He had five of his seven punts downed inside the 20, including two at the one-yard line.
  • Jacob Godek connected on a 44-yard field goal. It is his second 44-yarder of the season and he has now made seven-straight field goals.
