CHARLESTON, S.C. -  The Citadel volleyball picked up their tenth win on the year against Savannah State Tuesday night. This marks just the third time in program history that the Bulldogs have recorded ten wins. 

How it Happened

• The Citadel and Savannah State battled back and forth in the first set of the match with the Bulldogs eventually taking a 21-25 victory.
• Sharlissa De Jesus went 7-for-12 in the first set, recording a hitting percentage of .417 while serving up two aces to start of the match. 
• Caricia Rodriguez recorded seven digs while Megan Fuhr racked up 10 assists to begin the match.
• In the second set, the Citadel would come out of the gates on a 10-2 run before the Tigers would call a timeout. 
• Savannah State pulled within seven points but couldn't complete a comeback, dropping the set 25-11.
• The Bulldogs as a team tallied 13 service aces, three blocks and combined for a season-high hitting percentage of .321.
• De Jesus led the Bulldogs in kills with 13 and added three service aces. Mellanie King continued to hit for double-digits, notching ten kills to go with a career-high four aces. Senior, Abigail Murn contributed three service aces in the match. Fuhr aided in the offense providing 28 assists with no errors on the night. 
• On the defensive side of the ball, Caricia Rodriguez led the team in digs with 13 while Alicia Roberts assisted on three blocks through three sets. Roberts now has tallied 45 blocks in her career as a freshman.

• "I'm happy that we were able to get three straight sets against a very athletic team. Our hitting percentage was good and we did the little things right tonight. We still have work to do this week to prepare us for a pair of difficult conference matches this weekend but we will continue to work and try to grind out some wins."

Up Next

• The Bulldogs will host Samford and Chattanooga this Friday and Saturday, respectively. Senior night will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. as the Bulldogs take on the Mocs.
