CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel volleyball team dropped a home match to Samford in straight sets this Friday night.
How it Happened
- The Citadel and Samford went back and forth throughout the first set before Samford would pull ahead finishing out the first set 25-17.
- Samford would go on to take the second and third sets behind the offense of Lauren Deaton who led the team with 12 kills on the night.
- Sharlissa De Jesus continued to lead the Citadel with 10 kills on 23 attempts, leaving her with a hitting percentage of .348 on the night. Mellanie King tallied nine kills through three sets while adding a blocking assist and a solo block. Caricia Rodriguez notched 16 digs, more than any player on either team.
- The Citadel will go to 10-15 on the year while Samford will improve to 14-13 and pick up their ninth conference win.

- "Facing one of the top teams in the conference is always tough even at home. Fortunately for us, we have a quick turnaround and can try to redeem ourselves against Chattanooga tomorrow on senior day."
