CHARLESTON, S.C. – The 21
st-ranked Citadel co-ed rifle team finished third behind No. 9Â NC State and 19
th-ranked North Georgia Saturday afternoon at the Inouye Marksmanship Center. The Bulldogs finished the tri-match with an aggregate score of 4553, led by sophomore
Max Brabston and freshman
Izzie Blystone.
NC State took five of the top 10 spots overall, led by
Claire Spina's 1168 aggregate score. The Wolfpack finished with an aggregate score of 4658, including a 2312 in smallbore and a 2346 in air rifle.
North Georgia, led by
Tobin Sanctuary's fourth-place 1156, finished with an aggregate score of 4591, including a 2263 in smallbore and a 2328 in air.
Brabston recorded a 567 in three-position smallbore, finishing sixth in the discipline before ending his day eighth in air rifle with a 578.
Blystone, competing in smallbore for the first time at the collegiate level, finished eighth with a 566. She then finished 11
th in air with a new personal record of 575.
Senior
Allison Auten finished third on the co-ed team with an 1137, including 564 in smallbore and a 573 in air.
Alexander McAlear was fourth on the team with an 1130 and
Leah Wallace finished fifth on the squad with a 1098. McAlear posted a 558 in smallbore and a 572 in air rifle while Wallace shot a 534 in smallbore and a 564 in air rifle.
Shay Littlejohn led the women's team with a 1062, including 516 in smallbore and a 546 in air.
Lauren Pringle finished her day with a 1053, including a 505 in smallbore and a 548 in air rifle.
Tierra Price and
Abby Koger rounded out the women's foursome with a 1017 and a 948.
COMING UP
The Citadel will return to action next weekend with another tri-match, this time against No. 24 UAB and Wofford on Saturday, Oct. 13. Action is slated to get underway at 8 a.m.
