24th-Ranked Rifle Drops Close Match at No. 18 North Georgia

RESULTS

DAHLONEGA, Ga. –
 The 24th-ranked mixed rifle team put together one of their best team performances of the season Saturday afternoon, finishing the day with the second-highest aggregate score of the 2018-19 season in a 4580-4547 loss at 18th-ranked North Georgia.

The Bulldogs fired off a 2238 in three-position smallbore and followed that up with a 2309 in air rifle. The 2309 was the second-best air rifle score of the season for the Bulldogs.

North Georgia claimed the match behind Ricky Medina's 1159 and Tobin Sanctuary's 1156. Sanctuary finished first in smallbore with a 576, while Medina paced the field in air rifle with a 589.

The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Max Brabston's 1151, including a second-place 587 in air rifle. Brabston started his day with a 564 in three-position smallbore. The 1151 by Brabston was the best individual aggregate score of the season by a Bulldog, besting his previous best mark of the year by three. His 587 in air rifle was the second-best of the season in the gun for any Bulldog, falling just five points shy of his impressive 592 at VMI (Sept. 22).

Allison Auten (5th), Leah Wallace (6th), Izzie Blystone (7th) and Alexander McAlear (10th) all finished top-10 in aggregate score to help lead the 'Dogs in the strong finish. Emily Perkins, who counted for the Bulldogs in air rifle, posted a 573 in the gun.

Auten ended the day fifth with an 1134, including a 559 in smallbore and a 575 in air. Wallace finished sixth overall with an 1133 (555 in smallbore, 578 in air rifle) and Blystone wrapped up her day with an 1130, including a 560 in smallbore and a 570 in air rifle. McAlear finished his day with an 1121 (547 smallbore, 574 air rifle).

Abby Koger and Tierra Price from The Citadel women's team competed individually. Price fired off a 1017, including a 495 in smallbore and a 522 in air. Koger shot a 986 aggregate score, made up of a 496 in smallbore and a 490 in air rifle.
