CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team claimed a victory against Florida A&M for their final regular season game of the year.
How it Happened
- The Bulldogs took the first set from the Rattlers by a final score of 25-20 after Sharlissa De Jesus tallied eight kills on twenty attempts. She also led the team in digs in the first set, notching six.
- In the second set, both teams were neck and neck until a solo block from Mellanie King extended the lead to two points for the Bulldogs. De Jesus would tack on ten additional kills in the second set as well as King who racked up nine.
- After dropping the third set, the Bulldogs battled back to take the fourth and the match, putting them at 11-18 to round out the regular season. The team recorded six team blocks in the fourth set to seal the win.
- De Jesus led the team with 20 total kills on the night to go with 17 digs and a pair of solo blocks. King followed her up with a double-double of 13 kills, 13 digs and a pair of solo blocks. Megan Fuhr assisted on forty kills for the Bulldogs while also assisting on three blocks. Sarah Dobrich was the most efficient on the attack for the 'Dogs as she went 7-for-9 (.667) with a solo block and two blocking assists.
- The team combined for 54 kills, 48 assists, four service aces, 63 digs and 10 total blocks in the win.

"We are happy to get a good result against a very athletic team as we head into the SoCon Tournament. The third set for us was disappointing but the team is aware that we can't do that in tournament play. I'm happy with the way everyone stepped up even if it didn't't show up on the stat sheet."
