CHARLESTON, S.C. – La Salle's
Chase Arnold hit a solo home run and scored three runs to lift the Explorers to a 6-4 win over The Citadel in the series finale on Sunday at Joe Riley Park.
The Bulldogs scored once in the ninth and brought the tying run to the plate, but
Connor Hinchliffe (S, 1) retired
Jonathan Sabo to give the Explorers their only win of the weekend.
The Bulldogs fall to 3-3 on the season, while La Salle is now 3-4. The Explorers scored in five different innings, building a 5-0 lead before The Citadel got going offensively.
The loss spoiled a four-hit day for Bulldog shortstop
Will Kinney. He was 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI.
La Salle piled up three hits in the second inning to jump out 2-0 on starter
Thomas Byelick (L, 0-2).
Kevin McGowan and
Brian Dudeck had an RBI single in the next two at-bats for the Explorers to extend the lead.

Ben Peden for the Bulldogs' second run and the first of two runs for The Citadel in the sixth. A wild pitch from reliever

Taylor Cothran to race home, cutting the lead to 5-3.
The Explorers added an insurance run in the seventh on a solo home run by DH
Chase Arnold to left. He finished 2-for-4 and scored half of La Salle's runs.
J.D. Davis and Kinney had doubles in the ninth as the Bulldogs tried to rally for a third straight day, but Hinchliffe got Sabo to ground out to third to end the drama.
Cothran, Davis, and
Bryce Leasure all had to two hits for the Bulldogs to go with Kinney's four.
The Citadel hosts Georgia Southern on Tuesday night at Riley Park. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
