Martin Takes Individual Title at Buccaneer Open

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel cross country teams kicked off their 2018 season this Saturday morning at the Buccaneer Open.

How It Happened

Graduate transfer Colin Martin took first place in the Buccaneer Open with a time of 20:27.9.
Host, Charleston Southern took first place in the men's six-kilometer race and women's four-kilometer race.

"We aren't where we want to be as a team yet but we were proud that Colin Martin was able to perform well for the first competition of the season. The high humidity made it a tough morning for all the teams. Amber Opp and Casey Miller looked solid for the women but we have work to do on both teams. We now have two weeks to prepare for the Winthrop Invitational and hope to be in a little better shape by then. Having three freshman finish in the top five will be great for our future."
