SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After nearly a month away from competition, The Citadel cross country programs picked up where they left off at Saturday's USC Upstate Invitational. The men finished sixth in their 13-team field, while the women placed tenth.

Heidi Fortin ran the sixth-fastest 5K time in program history with her team-leading finish.

MEN'S RESULTS

The Bulldogs placed sixth with 163 points in their 8K race.
Sam Sharnas led the team, placing 18th with a time of 25:38.7.
Owen Sharnas took 28th with a mark of 26:00.8.
Ty Duben was the Bulldogs' third finisher, earning 47th place at 26:29.7.
Andrew Smith ranked 54th at 26:52.0.
William Ray placed 67th with a mark of 27:19.2.
Aidan O'Donnell took 82nd at 28:05.1.
Robert Perrecone finished 89th at 28:36.2.
Sutter Guttery earned 90th at 28:38.0.
Liam O'Donnell was 92nd in a time of 28:56.9.

WOMEN'S RESULTS

The women placed tenth with 265 points.
Heidi Fortin posted the highest individual finish on both sides, earning 11th place at 18:47.4 for her second-fastest 5K time and the sixth-best mark in program history.
Darrian Cole took 61st in a time of 20:31.8
Gabby Shea earned a new career best time, placing 64th with 20:37.5
Emma Cunningham took 72nd at 21:03.8
Sara-Grace Melton took 104th in a time of 23:38.5
