Inside The Numbers
290 - The Citadel ran for a season-high 290 yards against Chattanooga. The Bulldogs had seven different ball carries, with four of the seven ball carriers gaining at least 45 yards.
70 - The Bulldogs stuck to the ground game against Chattanooga as they rushed the ball 70 times.
17: - The game against Chattanooga marked the 17th overtime game in program history. The Bulldogs are now 9-8 in overtime games. The loss put an end to a five-game winning streak in overtime contests.
15 - The Citadel and Mercer have played close games over the past four years as only 15 points have separated the team over that span. Three of the four games have been decided by two points or less.
14 - The Bulldogs have trailed 14-0 after the first quarter in each of their first two games this season. In both instances, The Citadel has battled back to tie the game by the end of third quarter.


On This Date
In 1990, the No. 13 ranked Bulldogs knocked off No. 16 Marshall, 21-10, in front of 17,105 fans inside Johnson Hagood Stadium. Everette Sands ran for 135 yards in leading the Bulldogs to the victory.

The Game
The Bulldogs hit the road for the second time in Southern Conference play as they travel to face Mercer on Sept. 22. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Five Star Stadium.


Radio Coverage
All games this season can be hear live on 92.1-FM/102.1-FM/1450-AM in the Charleston. The new voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, will be joined by Cal McCombs in the booth and Jay Harper on the sideline.

Saturday's game will be the third of seven games that will be broadcast on ESPN+ this season. ESPN+ is a paid subscription this $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year.

The forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the low 90s.


vs. Mercer
The Bulldogs are 9-5-1 all time against the Bears. The Citadel is 3-1 against Mercer since their return of football in 2013. Three of the last four games have been decided by two points or less.


Last Game vs. Mercer
The Bulldogs scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the 21-point deficit in falling 24-14 at Johnson Hagood Stadium.


Three Straight to Start Season
The change in the schedule means the Bulldogs will open the season with three-straight conference games. That has not happened since the Bulldogs opened the 1926 season with three-straight Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association games.


Hurricane Florence
Hurricane Florence has shifted the Bulldogs schedule for the season. The storm forced the postponement of the game against Charleston Southern. The game will now be played Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at Johnson Hagood Stadium.


Hurricane Season
For the third-straight season, the second home game of the season was shifted due to a hurricane. The Bulldogs games against North Greenville in 2015 and Presbyterian in 2016 were shifted to the opponents home field.

The Bulldogs have played nine times prior on Sept. 22 and own a record of 3-5-1. The Citadel has three of its last four games on this date.
