CHARLESTON, S.C. – For the first time since the 2016 season, The Citadel women's soccer team has won a Southern Conference game. The Bulldogs defeated rival VMI, 4-3, at Washington Light Infantry Field Sunday afternoon, marking the first win over the Keydets since 2014 and the first win at home in the series since 2004.

How it Happened
- VMI came out fast and furious, scoring within the first 50 seconds for the eighth-fastest goal scored by a Bulldog opponent.
- A miscue in the box caused the Bulldogs to fall behind 2-0 early after an own goal.
- Bradshaw helped get the 'Dogs back into the game with her fourth goal of the season.
- The Citadel took a 12-3 advantage in shots into the locker room at halftime. The 'Dogs ended the game out-shooting the Keydets 24-10 overall.
- After Franklin's goal to start the second half, the Bulldogs got two goals within two minutes of each other to tie things back up.
- Arroyo netted her third game-winner of the season and fourth of her career with close to six minutes remaining. Despite a furious late charge from the Keydets, the Bulldog defense held strong for the win.

- The win marks the first Southern Conference win for The Citadel since defeating Wofford, 1-0, on the road on Oct. 6, 2016.
- The SoCon win at WLI Field is the first since the 2013 'Dogs defeated Elon 2-1 on Oct. 4, 2013.
- The win over the Keydets is the first since Oct 29, 2014 when The Citadel won 3-0 on the road.
- The win over the Keydets at WLI Field is the first home victory since a 3-2 Bulldog victory on Sept. 24, 2004, the very first meeting between the two teams in women's soccer.
- The win snapped a streak of three straight losses this season, as well as a four-game winning streak by VMI in the series.
- The Bulldogs' seven wins are the most since the 2014 campaign when The Citadel went 7-14 overall and 2-7 in SoCon play.
- Bradshaw's goal in the 25th minute was the first for the Bulldogs in over 360 minutes of action, dating back to the 22nd minute of the Bulldogs' 2-1 win over Hampton on Sept. 9.
- With her goal in the 25th minute, Bradshaw now has four this season, moving her into a tie for 14th with Ruth Leiva (2010) for goals scored by a freshman.
- Nyhart's goal in the 78th minute and Burgess' goal in the 80th minute were the first of their careers. The Bulldogs have now had five first-time scorers this season.
- Arroyo's game-winning goal in the 85th minute was the third game-winner of the season for the redshirt junior and her fifth goal of the season. She is now tied for 12th in program history with nine career goals, tied for 14th with 21 career points and is tied for seventh all-time with three game-winning goals.
