How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs found themselves trailing by 14 points after the first quarter for the second-straight game.
  • The Citadel answered back with a12-play drive in the second quarter that ended with a Jordan Black three-yard touchdown run.
  • After the Mocs scored with 2:31 left in the first half, the Bulldogs turned to the air to drive 81 yards in just 1:39.
  • The drive started with a 20-yard completion to Grant Drakeford and followed three plays later with a 24-yard connection with Rod Johnson.
  • The duo of Black and Drakeford connected again on a 25-yard hookup that ended up as a touchdown.
  • The Bulldogs came out of the locker room for the second half and wasted little time in rolling the dice. Facing a 4th-and-2 and their own 30, Clay Harris pushed the pile for three yards and a first down.
  • The drive would continue to march down the field to the tune of 17 plays, ended with a Lorenzo Ward one-yard plunge.
  • The Citadel defense forced a three-and-out and the next drive and Keyonte Sessions blocked the punt. Unfortunately, the drive ended with a missed field.
  • The Mocs had their own chance to take the lead early in the fourth with a field goa of their own, but it hit off the right upright.
  • The game would remain tied until the final drive of the game when the Mocs drove deep into Bulldog territory. On the final play of regulation, the 34-yard field goal sailed wide left.
  • The Citadel got the ball to start overtime and opened with a 10-yard run from Black. After a Black to Ward nine-yard connection picked up another first down, Black went over the right side for a five-yard touchdown.
  • The Mocs needed only three plays to reach the end zone and decided to go for the win. They ran a reverse pass that hit the receiver in the back corner of the end zone for the win.
