GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Citadel held No. 8 Furman to its lowest output of the season as the Bulldogs went on the road and defeated the Paladins, 27-10, on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
- The Paladins got on the board first after Grayson Atkins hit a 48-yard field goal on the opening drive.
- The Bulldogs came right back and used a 48 yard from Brandon Rainey to get deep into Paladin territory. Clay Harris finished off the drive by powering his way in from five yards out for his first touchdown of the season.
- After the team's exchanged several punts to start the second half, the Bulldogs won the field position battle and got the ball at the Furman 31.
- Remus Bullmer carried the ball twice to start the drive, covering 14 yards.
- On second-and-goal, Dante Smith took the pitch and raced in from four yards out.
- The defense got into the act on the ensuing possession as Marquise Blount stripped the ball from the quarterback and Dewey Greene IV recovered at the Paladin 12.
- Two plays later, Bulmer took the pitch and outran the defense to the pylon for the eight-yard touchdown.
- The Paladins got in the end zone for the only time on their opening possession of the fourth quarter as Devin Wynn capped a 76-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run.
- The Bulldogs answered the touchdown by eating the next 7:11 off the clock, driving 62 yards and getting a 30-yard field goal from Jacob Godek.
- Furman's next possession resulted in four-straight incompletions that gave the Bulldogs the ball in Paladin territory.
- The Citadel ran three plays to eat some clock and Godek came out to hit a 46-yard field goal to extend the lead.
Inside the Numbers
- The victory was the first over a Top 10 team since the Bulldogs defeated No. 5 Chattanooga, 22-14, in 2016.
- The 10 points are the fewest allowed in a victory over a ranked opponent since the Bulldogs defeated No. 8 Western Carolina, 17-7, in 2005.
- The Bulldogs rushed for a season-best 360 yards on 61 attempts. It was the second-straight game the Bulldogs set a season-high for rushing yards.
- Brandon Rainey led the ground attack with 165 yards on 26 carries. Nkem Njoku added 58 yards on just four carries.
- Remus Bulmer rushed eight times for 41 yards and a touchdown.
- Clay Harris ran for 31 yards and his first touchdown of the season. He also caught a pass for 13 yards.
- The defense held Furman to just 216 yards of offense. The Paladins entered the game averaging 428.1 yards and 33.6 points per game.
- The Bulldogs held the Paladins to just 77 yards of offense in the second half, including just 23 yards in the third quarter.
- Chris Beverly led the defense with eight tackles, while Willie Eubanks III added seven tackles and two pass break-ups.
- Marquise Blount added six tackles and forced a fumble on a sack.
- Sean-Thomas Faulkner also had six tackles and a sack.
