HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bulldogs were unable to stop four separate runs by the Mocs in the first set, falling but just two in the first, 23-25
  • The Citadel jumped out to a quick, 4-1 lead in the second set, benefitting from multiple errors made by UTC.
  • The Mocs would come back midway through the set, knotting things at 10-10 after a five point run.
  • The rest of set shifted back-and-forth before the 'Dogs went on four-point run to take a lead that they would not give up, winning the set 25-20.
  • Late runs in the third set for the Mocs weren't enough to overcome early momentum built by The Citadel in the third set as the Bulldogs snagged a 25-19 victory.
  • The momentum made an about-face in the fourth set as UTC took control, not relenting during the set and posting a six-point run to top the 'Dogs, 19-25.
  • It all came down to a deciding fifth set with each team almost scoring two points at a time to keep the match close.
  • .A final push by The Citadel with two separate three point runs late, lifted the Bulldogs passed the Mocs.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Bulldogs front row put in work during tonight's match, finishing with a .245 hitting percentage to the Mocs, .190.
  • Junior Mellanie King recorded her eighth double-double of the year, logging 13 kills and 16 digs on the night.
  • Both Sarah Dobrich and Maddy Cardenas notched four blocks on the night, putting up a wall at the net.

COACHES CORNER
"This was a really great week for our program," said head coach Dave Zelenock. "It started back at ETSU, we made a change in how we approach things and the girls have really done a good job building momentum over the last week. We played six matches in eight days and they deserve some rest for sure. We're looking forward to getting back at it Monday to prepare for a tough week on the road."
