‘Dogs Fall To Samford On The Road

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The Bulldogs dropped their first of two conference games this weekend to Samford, 3-1 Friday evening.

Records: The Citadel 8-14, 2-7, Samford 15-5, 9-1
Location: Birmingham, Ala.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bulldogs came into the match #BattleReady going back-and-forth with the Bulldogs of Samford throughout the entire first set.
  • The 'Dogs hit with an over. 200 hitting percentage, holding off Samford for a, 25-23 victory.
  • Samford battled back in the second set, despite momentum shifts, down The Citadel, 11-25.
  • Two five-point runs by the Bulldogs of Samford downed The Citadel in the third set, 17-25.
  • Early in the fourth set Samford went one 10-0 run leading to 11-25 score to close out the match.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Bulldogs were held to under double-digit kills on the night.
  • Freshman Makaya Middleton lead the The Citadel offense with seven kills
  • De Jesus logged a balanced night with six kills and nine digs.
  • Libero Kenzie Kellerman was the lone Bulldog with double-digit digs, registering 12.
