MACON, Ga. – The Bulldogs fell to the Bears of Mercer after close sets on Saturday afternoon, 0-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs battled through the first set mounting a three and four-point, but were unable to overcome five consecutive points scored Mercer and dropped the set, 20-25.
- The Citadel clawed its way back from a 17-13 score midway through the second set but the Bears held of the Bulldogs, taking the set 25-23.
- Mercer jumped out quick in the third set, leading the Bulldogs to battle back once again.
- The Bears had their largest lead in the third at 18-12, but The Citadel would not go quietly, striking late in the set with a four-point run.
- Mercer closed out the match, 25-20 over The Citadel in set three.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Mellanie King led the Bulldogs for the day with nine kills throughout the match.
- Sharlissa De Jesus led the way for The Citadel defense, putting up 11 digs for the day.
- The Citadel was outpaced at the net, finishing the match with a .115 hitting percentage to Mercer's .280.
