JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Despite out shooting ETSU 12-8, The Citadel women's soccer team dropped the final road game of the regular season Sunday afternoon, suffering a 3-1 setback to the Bucs in Southern Conference action.

SCORING SUMMARY
2' – Sydney Cavendar sent a rocket into the left side of the goal off an assist from
Raffaella Giuliano.
29' – Giuliano made it 2-0 for ETSU with her first goal of the season off a free kick from 30 yards out.
37' – Maria Contreras scored her third goal of the season with a shot from 25 yards out off an assist from
Suzuka Yosue.
82' – Kendall King sent a free kick into the box where
Maegan Sours was waiting for a one-touch goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- ETSU scored on the first shot of the game in just the second minute and extended the lead out over 25 minutes later.
- The Bulldogs remained aggressive and hungry and were able to pull to within one with just under 10 minutes left in the first half.
- The Citadel came out in the second half and appeared poised to find the equalizer, but ETSU was able to turn away each threat.
- With just under nine minutes left in regulation, ETSU put the game away with the Bucs' third goal.
- The Citadel outshot ETSU 12-8, but was able to put just two of those on frame as the Bus held a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.
NOTES
- Contreras' goal in the 37th minute broke a stretch of over 340 minutes where the Bulldogs had failed to score a goal.
- Contreras now boasts three goals on the year, matching Hayley Long for second on the team. Her three goals scored as a junior has her tied for ninth in program history. She now boasts eight points, 11th most in program history for points scored by a junior.
- Contreras has scored six goals in her career and boasts 19 points.
- Yosue moved into sole possession for second in program history for assists by a freshman with her sixth of the year. She is just one away from matching the record set by Lea Raedle in 2013. Yosue now has 10 points, 15th most in program history for points by a freshman.
NEXT UP
The Bulldogs return home next weekend for the final two games of the regular season. The 'Dogs will first host Furman on Friday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. before turning their attention to Wofford on Sunday, Oct. 27.
