‘Dogs Fall To Chattanooga On The Road

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. – The Bulldogs went set-for-set with the Mocs Friday night, but were unable to hold on in a fifth set, falling to Chattanooga 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Mocs started the first set with three significant point runs to go take the one set advantage, 25-21.
  • The Bulldogs answered the call in the second, responding to every momentum push by Chattanooga and stringing together two crucial three-point runs late in the set to tie the match 1-1 with a, 25-22 victory.
  • Neither side could gain an upper-hand in the third set until the Mocs took the final four points to go ahead 2-1, downing the Bulldogs, 25-23.
  • Chattanooga jumped out to an early, 5-2 lead in the fourth but the Bulldogs quickly rallied, taking over, 9-6 on a major momentum shift that included a five-point run.
  • The Bulldogs wouldn't give up the lead the rest of the set, taking the fourth 25-17.
  • The Bulldogs forced a deciding fifth set that included 10 point ties and one lead shift.
  • The Mocs took the final three points to seal the match with a, 16-14 score.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Bulldogs swing-for-swing with the Mocs, both ending the night with a.233 hitting percentage.
  • Sharlissa De Jesus closed out the regular season with 18 kills and 15 digs for the match.
  • Freshman Gina Delancey snagged a career and season-high 11 kills.
  • Chattanooga registered 11 service aces throughout the match to the Bulldogs five.

The Citadel has closed out their regular season and will await their tournament seeding for the Sothern Conference Championship Tournament.
