KEY STATS
  • The Bulldogs opened the game by controlling the tip, but Campbell managed to score the first points of the game with a Cedric Henderson 3-pointer.
  • The two teams went back-and-forth for much of the early going with Campbell managing a four-point, 15-11 lead nearly six minutes in, but every time the Camels began to stretch the lead out, the Bulldogs were there with an answer.
  • With 9:40 to go in the opening half, Eddie Davis, III gave The Citadel its first and only lead of the game with a layup to make it 21-19, but Campbell went on a 15-0 run over the next four-plus minutes.
  • After Campbell stretched the lead out to 20, 48-28 off a Trey Spencer trey with 1:33 to play in the opening half, the 'Dogs closed the half out with a 5-0 spurt, including layups from Tyson Batiste and Kaelon Harris and a free throw from Hayden Brown.
  • The second half opened with much of the same as Campbell continued to flirt with a 20-point lead, extending things out to as many as 22, 60-38 off a Spencer fast-break layup with 13:27 left to play.
  • Despite being down, the Bulldogs continued to battle and began to slowly chip away at the deficit.
  • With 9:07 left to play, Jerry Higgins, III hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 15, 66-15, and with 6:01 to play, Alex Reed made it an 11-point game when he hit a jumper in the paint to set the score at 70-59.
  • Batiste cut the lead even further a few minutes later as he scored on back-to-back possessions to make it an eight-point 71-63 game with 4:37 remaining.
  • However, that was as close as The Citadel could manage as Campbell opened the lead back out as many as 16, 85-69 with 1:16 left to play before settling for the final 14-point, 87-73 score.
  • After shooting 50.0% (15-of-30) from the field in the first half, The Citadel connected on 40.7% (11-of-27) of their looks from the field in the second, ending the game shooting 45.6% from the field. The Bulldogs struggled mightily from long range, hitting just two 3-pointers to shoot 11.1% (2-of-18) in the contest.
  • Campbell opened the game shooting 58.1% (18-of-31) from the field, and finished the game shooting 54.8% (34-of-62) for the entire 40-minute contest.
  • For the second straight game, Brown led the Bulldogs in scoring with 18 points off 7-of-14 shooting (.500) to go along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
  • Batiste and freshman Fletcher Abee each added 15 points with Batiste contributing three assists and a steal, while Abee added two steals and a 3-pointer.
  • Campbell was led by Ja'Cor Nelson's 18 points off 7-of-9 (.778) shooting from the field, and Henderson led all players with a trio of 3-pointers made.

NOTABLES
  • For the third straight game, Brown scored in double figures, marking the third time in his career he has had a streak of at least three games with double-digit points. Brown had a stretch last season of four game in double figures that spanned Jan. 1-24. His 59 points scored and average of 19.7 points per game in the stretch are the most of any three-game stretch in his career.
  • Davis played in his 100th-career college game Saturday.

QUOTABLES FROM COACH BAUCOM
"Credit Campbell because they played really well. Coming into the game, they shot around 30.0% from 3-point range, but today they really shot it well and made a lot of mid-range jumpers. I think at one point in the first half, they went 10-of-13 on those mid-range shots. You have to really give them a ton of credit because they just beat us. I thought we got off to a good start, but we waned down the stretch of the first half, and in the second half we didn't seem to start playing until we were down by 20. We're a young team, so hopefully we will learn from this and work to get better."

COMING UP
The Bulldogs will next hit the road for a week-long trip that will cover over 2,700 miles. The Citadel will play three games at Southeast Missouri State (Nov. 19), Illinois (Nov. 20) and Marist (Nov. 23).
