Shane Connolly was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete-game three-hit shutout against Delaware State on Feb. 16.

Corbitt Collects 5 Hits

Two Earned Runs

Peden Goes Deep
Ben Peden hit his first home run of the season when he took a fastball deep over the wall in right in the series finale against Delaware State. The homer was the 16th of his career.

Connolly Tosses CG Shutout
Sophomore Shane Connolly tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout in the 5-0 victory in the middle game of the series. It was the first CG shutout for a Bulldog pitcher since JP Sears tossed a two-hit shutout against VMI on March 24, 2017

Opening Weekend Shutout
The Bulldog pitching staff tossed a shutout on opening weekend for the second-straight season. In 2018, The Citadel opened the season with a 3-0 victory over George Mason.

No Earned Runs in Opener
The Bulldogs pitching staff did not allow an earned run in the season opener. It marked the second-straight season the Bulldogs did not give up an earned run in the first game. Last season, The Citadel shut out George Mason, 3-0.

Merritt Strikes Out Career High
Senior Jordan Merritt struck out a career-best nine in his first start against Delaware State. He struck one hitter in each of the first five innings before fanning two in the sixth and seventh innings. He bested his old mark of eight set against Charleston Southern last season.
