'Dogs Welcome Gamecocks to The Joe

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel welcomes No. 22 South Carolina to Riley Park Tuesday evening. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Ceremonial First Pitches
Tuesday's game will feature two ceremonial first pitches. U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Daniel H. Fillion will throw out the ceremonial first pitch as part of Navy Week. Additionally, Elliott Young will throw out the first pitch on behalf of sponsor Boj
angles.

USS Constitution to Present Colors
Members of the USS Constitution will present the colors prior to Tuesday's game. Also known as "Old Ironsides", it is the U.S. Navy's oldest commissioned warship. It was launched in 1797 and still afloat today at Boston's Charleston Navy Yard.

Tickets for all home games are available on CitadelSports.com/tickets or by calling the box office at 843-953-DOGS. Tickets will also be available at the stadium box office starting one hour before first pitch.


Midweek Weather
Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 60s on Tuesday. The temps will remain in the upper-50s as the game gets into the later innings.


Series History vs. South Carolina
The Bulldogs and Gamecocks are meeting for the 185th time with SC holding a 134-49-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Gamecocks won the earlier meeting in Columbia on March 5. The teams split the season series a season ago.


vs. Ranked Opponents
Tuesday's game marks the fifth game this season against a ranked opponent. The 'Dogs hosted No. 17 Michigan in a three-game series, while this is the second game against a nationally-ranked South Carolina team.


Walk-Off Win
The Bulldogs scored on a wild pitch to walk off with a 4-3 victory over Charleston Southern in the series finale. It was the first walk-off win for the 'Dogs since a throwing error in the 15th allowed the winning run to score against La Salle on Feb. 23, 2018.


Davis Driving in Runs
Junior J.D. Davis had a big weekend against CSU. He finished the series 4-for-9 with a double, first career home run and seven RBIs.  He plated two runs in the series opener, then followed it up with three RBIs on Saturday and two RBIs on Sunday.


Merritt Shuts Down CSU
Jordan Merritt turned in another quality start as he allowed just one unearned run on three hits over seven innings. He has allowed one earned run or less in three of his four starts this season.


On Deck
The 'Dogs leave the state of South Carolina for the first time this season as they head to the midwest to face Indiana State March 15-17. The first two games of the series are set for 2 p.m., with Sunday's finale set to begin at 1 p.m. The games on Friday and Sunday will be broadcast on ESPN+.
