'Dogs Make Journey to Face Indiana State

GAME NOTES

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Citadel hits the road for a weekend series for the first time as the 'Dogs travel to face Indiana State March 15-17. The first two games of the series are set for a 2 p.m. first pitch, while Sunday's finale will start at 1p.m.

Weekend Weather
Temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid 40s for all three games of the series.


Series History vs. Indiana State
The Bulldogs and Sycamores have met 11 times prior with ISU holding a 9-2 advantage in the all-time series. The teams met in Charleston a season ago with the Sycamores sweeping the series.


Crossing State Lines
This weekend's trip will mark the first time the Bulldogs will leave the state of South Carolina. Upon returning from the trip, the 'Dogs will not leave the state again until they venture to Samford April 12-14.

The 'Dogs will log plenty of miles this weekend as they will make the 798 mile trip to Terre Haute. The round trip journey will cover 1,596 miles.


Offense Against Carolina
The Citadel got its offense going in the second half of the game against South Carolina. The 'Dogs tied their season high with 15 hits and scored their most runs against the Gamecocks since a 10-8 win April 16, 2014.


Trio Collect Three Hits
The 'Dogs had three players, Tyler Corbitt, Jeffery Brown and Ben Peden, collect three hits against the Gamecocks. The trio combined to go 9-for-16, with a double, triple, six RBIs and four runs scored.


Walk-Off Win
The Bulldogs scored on a wild pitch to walk off with a 4-3 victory over Charleston Southern in the series finale. It was the first walk-off win for the 'Dogs since a throwing error in the 15th allowed the winning run to score against La Salle on Feb. 23, 2018.


On Deck
The 'Dogs play a pair of midweek games as they welcome Georgia Southern to Riley Park on March 19, before traveling to face Winthrop on March 20.
