Baseball Travels to South Carolina; Hosts Winthrop

GAME NOTES | TICKETS

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel begins a busy week of baseball as they hit the road for the first time March 5 at No. 24 South Carolina. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. The 'Dogs will return home March 5 to take on Winthrop at 4 p.m.

On the Air
The voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, and Jay Harper will have the call for Tuesday's game. Fans can listen to the game on WQNT (92.1FM / 102.1FM / 1450AM).


Wednesday Game Moved to 4 p.m.
With the threat of cold temperatures after dark on Wednesday, the game against Winthrop has been moved to 4 p.m.


Bark in the Park
Wednesday's game against Winthrop will be Bark in the Park at Joe Riley Park. Fans are encouraged to bring their furry friends to game.

Tickets for all home games are available on CitadelSports.com/tickets or by calling the box office at 843-953-DOGS. Tickets will also be available at the stadium box office starting one hour before first pitch.


Midweek Weather
Temperatures will be in the low 50s for both midweek games. It will be around 52 degrees at first pitch on Tuesday and around 50 degrees for first pitch on Wednesday.


Series History vs. South Carolina
The Bulldogs and Gamecocks are meeting for the 184th time on the diamond with SC holding a 133-49-1advantage in the all-time series. The teams split the home-and-home series last season with each team winning on the road.


Cooper Returns to Columbia
Pitching coach Blake Cooper returns to Columbia where he helped the Gamecocks to the 2010 National Championship. Cooper wan an All-American after going 13-2 with a 2.76 ERA.


First Road Game
The Bulldogs are hitting the road for the first time Tuesday. The Citadel played its first 10 games at home and will play 16 games before leaving the state of South Carolina.


McCarthy's Big Week
Outfielder Ryan McCarthy put together an impressive four-game stretch by going 10-for-17 with two doubles, triple and seven RBIs.


15 Hits
The Bulldogs offense collected 15 hits in the series finale against North Alabama. It was the highest hit total since collecting 34 hits against Winthrop on March 14, 2017.


Merritt CG
Senior Jordan Merritt threw his first career complete game in the series opener against North Alabama. The right hander allowed three runs in picking up his first victory over the season.


On Deck
The 'Dogs settle in for a Lowcountry showdown as they play Charleston Southern March 8-10. The series opener is set for 6:30 p.m. at Riley Park. Saturday's game will start at 6 p.m. at Charleston Southern, before the series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. at Riley Park.
