COLUMBIA, SC. – A pair of home runs and a couple errors led to a big inning that The Citadel was unable to recover from in a 9-0 setback to No. 24 South Carolina Tuesday afternoon at Founders Park.

Key Plays

The Gameocks scored three runs on a pair of home runs in the second. The inning was extended by a Bulldog error that allowed two more runs to score.

How it Happened

The Gamecocks used the long ball to get on the board in the second as Andrew Eyster hit a solo homer to center and George Callil hit a two-run shot to left.
SC would get three more runs on a pair of doubles before a throwing error with two outs allowed two more runs to score.
The Bulldog pitchers would settle down from there as Zach Taglieri was able to get through the third and fourth innings without any damage.
Morgan Foulks would allow one run on one hit in his two innings of work.
Devin Beckley struck out the side in the seventh.
Ian Foggo continued the string for the pitching staff as he got a strikeout and two popups in a scoreless eighth.

Inside the Box Score

Cameron Reeves (0-1) took the loss after allowing six runs in 1.2 innings. He struck out four, including the side in the first inning.
TJ Shook (2-0) kept the Bulldogs off balance all game as he allowed just one hit and struck out 12 over 6.1 innings.
Tyler Corbitt collected the first hit with a single to right center in the third inning.
Andrew Judkins added a pinch-hit single to center in the ninth.

"Besides that big inning we played pretty good. We kept them off the scoreboard for six of the eight innings. They have a really good lineup that can hurt you in a hurry and that is what happened. They were able to get some good swings and separate from us.

"I give their pitchers a lot of credit. They pounded the zone and it seemed like we were behind in the count from an offensive standpoint the whole game. We just couldn't get anything going."
