How it Happened
  • The Bucs got on the board in the first inning as they took advantage of four walks to score a pair of runs. The first run scored on a groundout, while the second run scored on a wild pitch off a strikeout.
  • The Bulldogs got one run back in the third inning after Tilo Skole singled and came around to score on a J.D. Davis double just inside the bag at third.
  • Davis helped to tie the game in the fifth inning by drawing a walk with two outs and stealing second.
  • Tyler Cobitt followed with a single to score Davis.
  • The Bulldog bullpen kept the game tied through the first five innings. Zach Taglieri entered the game in the third inning with runners on the corners and no outs. He was able to get out of the jam without allowing a run.
  • Cameron Reeves pitched two scoreless innings, getting help on a strong relay throw from Skole to get an out at home plate.
  • The Bucs were finally able to retake the lead in the sixth inning as a pair of walks and a single loaded the bases with one out.
  • A dropped fly ball on what should have been a sacrifice fly scored the first run. A single, bases loaded walk and sacrifice fly allowed three more runs to score.
  • The Bulldogs got one run back in the seventh on a throwing error. Davis was again in the center of the action as he beat out an infield single and hustled home from first on the throwing error across the diamond.
  • CSU put the game away in the eighth inning as they plated four more runs. Two of the runs scored on wild pitches.
  • The Citadel tried to get momentum back for the series finale in the ninth. Weidner Wilfong collected his first career hit with a single to right and scored when Davis hit his first career home run to left field.
