CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's tennis team will conclude the regular season this weekend with three Southern Conference matches on the road that will take the Bulldogs to Alabama, up into Tennessee and back to South Carolina.
The 'Dogs will open the weekend at Samford on Thursday, April 11. The Southern Conference match is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m. (ET).
The Citadel netters will then travel up to Johnson City, Tennessee where ETSU awaits the third SoCon match of the weekend. The 'Dogs and Bucs will tangle at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.
The weekend will conclude with the rescheduled SoCon match against Wofford. The Bulldogs and Terriers will now play on Sunday, April 14 at 10 a.m. The match was moved to Spartanburg to accommodate the Bulldogs' travel back from the Volunteer State.
INSIDE THE CONFERENCE STANDINGS
Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, The Citadel currently sits eighth in the SoCon standings, but has a chance to make up some ground. ETSU is the only team to remain unbeaten (5-0) in league play, while Furman concluded the season 6-1 in SoCon action. Mercer, Chattanooga and Wofford all have three conference wins, while Samford and UNCG both have one win in SoCon play.
LEAGUE TOURNAMENT COMING UP
The 2019 Southern Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships will be held April 18-20 in Macon, Georgia. Quarterfinals for the men's side will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 with the No. 1 seed taking on the No. 8 seed and the No. 4 seed facing off against the No. 5 seed. The final two quarterfinals will be contested at 3 p.m. the same day and will feature the No. 2 seed taking on the No. 7 seed, while the No. 3 seed tangles with the No. 6 seed.
LAST TIME OUT
The Citadel men's tennis team's pair of matches originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 9 were altered due to the threat of continued rains in the Charleston area. The Bulldogs were originally scheduled to play Wofford at 2:30 p.m. at the Jack Adams Tennis Center. That match has been moved to 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 14 and relocated to Spartanburg, S.C. The 'Dogs were then slated to take on College of Charleston at 7 p.m., but that match has been cancelled and will not be made up.
SCOUTING SAMFORD
Samford is 9-9 on the year, including a 1-4 SoCon record and a 6-4 mark at home. The Bulldogs rattled off four wins in a row over Presbyterian, Tennessee Tech, Youngstown State and North Dakota from March 2 – 12, but dropped three of their last four matches, all of which have been SoCon contests. Samford defeated UNC Greensboro, 5-2, on March 30 for their most recent victory. Samford features a small squad made up of two juniors, three sophomores and a pair of freshmen. Max Rebol.
SCOUTING ETSU
ETSU heads into the weekend with a 15-4 record, including an 8-0 mark at home, and a 5-0 SoCon record. The Bucs boast two six-match winning streaks, including the current run that dates back to March 17. In the current streak, ETSU has surrendered just five points. The Bucs most recently defeated UNC Wilmington, 4-0, on Saturday, April 6, and will play Mercer on Friday, April 12 before facing The Citadel. ETSU is led by two seniors and a trio of juniors complimented by three sophomores and three freshmen. The seniors include

David Gonzalez.
SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford brings a 7-11 record into the weekend, including a 3-3 mark in Southern Conference play and a 4-7 record at home. The Terriers boast wins over Samford, Mercer and UNC Greensboro, and most recently defeated USC Upstate, 7-0, on the road on Friday, April 5. The Terriers will play at Charlotte on Saturday, April 13 before hosting the Bulldogs on Sunday. Head coach
