'Dogs Return to Conference Play at UNCG

GAME NOTES

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Citadel hits the road for another Southern Conference series as they travel to UNCG April 27-28. The series gets underway with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday, and concludes with a 1 p.m. first pitch on Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to be in the low 70s for the doubleheader on Saturday and up near 80 degrees on Sunday.

Series Shift
This weekend's series has been shifted back one day to accommodate final exams at The Citadel.

Series History vs. UNCG
The Citadel and UNCG have met 70 times prior with the Bulldogs holding a 36-34 advantage in the all-time series. The Spartans swept the season series in 2018 and have won five straight dating back to 2017.

Taglieri Strong in First Start
Junior Zach Taglieri was strong in his first start of the season as he tossed a career-high 4.0 innings, allowing just one unearned run on three hits and five strikeouts.

Lane Collects Three Hits
Freshman Wesley Lane collected a career-high three hits at Georgia Southern. The effort was the second multi-hit game of his young career.

First Pitch Home Run
Ryan McCarthy swung at the first pitch of the game in the series finale and deposited it over the fence in center field for a home run. The blast was his third of the season.

McCarthy in the Leadoff Spot
Ryan McCarthy has been in the leadoff spot for the last 14 games. Over that span, the right fielder has hit safely in 11 games and has collected four multi-hit games.

Scoring Early
The Citadel offense has started to find its way in the first inning as the Bulldogs have scored in the first inning in four of the last six games.

Hitting the Road
The Bulldogs are in the midst an 11-game road swing that sees the Bulldogs play only one game inside the state. After the trip to Samford, the Citadel heads to South Florida for three games, a midweek game at Georgia Southern, weekend series against UNCG and a midweek game against Georgia in North Augusta.

The 'Dogs close out their road swing as they take on No. 4 Georgia on April 30 at SRP Park. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
