Strong Performance Ends in Extra Inning Loss

CHARLESTON, S.C. – A bases-load walk and a wild pitch proved to the be the difference as The Citadel fell, 3-1, in 10 innings to ETSU Saturday afternoon at Joe Riley Park.

  • Tyler Corbitt followed with a single through the left side to score Ray.
  • The Bucs got on the board again in the 10th as they loaded the bases with two outs. Jackson Greer drew a walk to score one run and a wild pitch followed to allow a second run to score.

  • The Bulldogs got a strong start from Shane Connolly as the sophomore allowed just one run over 6.0 innings.
  • Zach Taglieri gave up just one hit and struck out three over 2.0 shutout innings.
  • Ches Goodman (0-2) got the 'Dogs out of a jam in the ninth, but was saddled with the loss after being charged with two runs in one inning of work.
  • Nathanial Tate (3-0) picked up the win in relief as he gave up just one hit in 2.0 shutout innings.
  • The game was one of missed opportunities for both teams as ETSU stranded 16 base runners, 11 in scoring position. The Bulldogs only stranded four, but three of them came when they stranded the bases loaded in the sixth.
