TROY, Ala. – The Citadel volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday, Sept. 20 on the first day of the Trojan Classic, hosted by Troy. The 'Dogs snagged a five set win over Southern before falling, 0-3 to Troy.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 'Dogs amassed 16 service aces over the course of five sets to Southern's six.
- Three Bulldogs hammered double-digit kills for the day including Mellanie King (19), Sharlissa De Jesus (12), and Sarah Dobrich (11).
- The Citadel wasn't without the assistant of setter Megan Fuhr, who put up 48 assists, moving her closer to another ranking in career assists in the program's history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Citadel struggled in the first set, but bounced back in the second in third, picking up key blocks that aided in multiple leads.
- The Trojans' front row was keyed in throughout the match, finishing with a .253 kills percentage to the 'Dogs .054.
- Mellanie King and Sharlissa De Jesus ended the day with another double-digit kill match, earning 11 and 10, respectively.

The Bulldogs wrap up the Trojan Classic Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m. against Florida A&M. The Citadel returns to McAlister Field house this week for back-to-back home games.
