CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Bulldogs battled in an intense match against Mercer, but was defeated Friday night, 3-2 at McAlister Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 'Dogs came out hungry in the first set, taking down the Bears, 25-18.
- Mercer took the next two sets, before The Citadel forced a deciding fifth set after winning the fourth 25-20.
- Outside hitter Sharlissa De Jesus logged yet another double-double with 11 kills and 16 digs.
- Both teams recorded seven service aces and 10 blocks, but it was the Bears with 53 kills to the Bulldogs' 38.

"We wish the outcome would have been different, but we're proud of how the team played tonight," said head coach
Dave Zelenock. "We got contributions from everyone throughout the match and it shows a lot of guts to go at a team that big and physical."
