LEXINGTON, Va. – The men's freshman distance medley relay team set a program freshman record Saturday as The Citadel track and field teams competed in the VMI Team Challenge at the Corps Physical Training Facility.
The Men's Side Rundown
- The freshman distance medley relay team of Andrew Smith, Kane Duncan, Aidan Richter and Sam Sharnas set a program freshman record with a time of 10:36.24, finishing second overall in the race.
- Cardan Williams set a personal record in the 60-meter dash with a fourth-place 6.99. The time is eighth in program history.
- Williams also set a PR in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.41, finishing eighth.
- Jeremy Shipley finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.63, while Trey McClary finished fifth with a time of 2:00.75.
- Sam Blumer and Devin Merrick tied for third in the pole vault with a height of 14' 9.25".
- Lindsay Pierce finished eighth in pole vault with a jump of 13' 3.5".
- Prince Howard-Whitaker finished fifth in the weight throw with a personal record of 50' 4". He also posted a PR in the shot put with a toss of 43' 2".
- Triston McClain recorded a personal record in the triple jump with a leap of 42' 10.25".
- In the high jump, Prince Moody finished fifth, Harrison Mansell finished sixth and Kenya Pinckney finished seventh as all three recorded a jump of 6' 0.75".
- In the 60-meter high hurdles, Keefe White finished seventh with a time of 8.57.
The Women's Side Rundown
- Mya Dollard finished sixth in the high jump, tying her personal record of 5' 1".
- Samantha Engel finished seventh in the pole vault with a leap of 10' 0", which placed her second in program history.
- Maia Aviles recorded a personal record in the pole vault with a vault of 8' 6.25", which places fifth in program history.
- Heidi Fortin ran the 3,000-meter race with a time of 11:10.47, placing 10th all-time in program history.
- Grace Wolfe was just behind Fortin with a time of 11:10.51.
- Tamia Burch set a personal record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.00. The time is the fifth-fastest in program history.
- Joie Royer finished ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.07.

Next weekend, the Bulldogs will return to Columbia to participate in the Carolina Challenge Friday, Jan. 31 – Saturday, Feb. 1.
