Bulldog Track and Field Returns to Columbia for Carolina Challenge

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel track and field teams return to Columbia  this weekend to take part in the Carolina Challenge. The meet will be contested across Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1.
The meet will get underway Friday at 10 a.m. with the women's weight throw. Friday's track events will commence at 11 a.m. with the women's 60-meter dash. Saturday's field events begin with the men's open pole vault at 10 a.m., while the men's open 5,000-meter race also begins at 10 a.m.

RECORD BREAKING
Last week at the VMI Team Challenge, the freshman distance medley relay team of Andrew Smith, Kane Duncan, Aidan Richter and Sam Sharnas set a program freshman record with a time of 10:36.24, finishing second overall in the race.

Next week, The Citadel will again travel to Columbia for the South Carolina Invitational. The meet will span Friday, Feb. 7 and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 8.

LAST WEEK'S PERSONAL RECORDS
- Cardan Williams set a personal record in the 60-meter dash with a fourth-place 6.99. The time is eighth in program history. Williams also set a PR in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.41, finishing eighth.
- Prince Howard-Whitaker finished fifth in the weight throw with a personal record of 50' 4". He also posted a PR in the shot put with a toss of 43' 2".
- Triston McClain recorded a personal record in the triple jump with a leap of 42' 10.25".
- Mya Dollard finished sixth in the high jump, tying her personal record of 5' 1".
- Maia Aviles recorded a personal record in the pole vault with a vault of 8' 6.25", which places fifth in program history.
- Tamia Burch set a personal record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.00. The time is the fifth-fastest in program history.
