Cross Country Heads to Chanticleer Challenge

CONWAY, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's cross country head up the coast to participate in the Chanticleer Challenge on Friday. The women's 5K race will begin at 4 p.m., with the men's 8K race getting underway at 4:45 p.m. The races will be run at the Hackler Golf Course.

The women's race feature runners from The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, Francis Marion and Georgia Southern. The men's race will feature competitors from The Citadel, CCU and FMU.

Last Time Out
Both teams placed second at the Koala Classic hosted by Columbia College. Heidi Fortin led the women's team by running a 22:54.3, the second-fastest 6K time in program history. She was one of four runners to finish in the Top 10. On the men's side, Andrew Smith ran the 10^th-fastest 8K time in program history.

Conference Championship to be Held in November
The Southern Conference announced earlier this month that 2020 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships will be conducted in the fall. The race will be conducted on Nov. 21 in Macon, Georgia.

The Bulldogs head to Hardeeville to participate in the NAIA Southern States Showdown, hosted by USC Beaufort, on Oct. 24.
