Baseball Welcomes Yale For Weekend Series

GAME NOTES | TICKETS

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel continues its season-opening home stand as they welcome Yale to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on Feb. 21. The series is set to begin Friday at 3 p.m., with Saturday's game set for 2 p.m. and the series finale at 1 p.m.

Weekend Weather
Temperatures are expected to improve throughout the weekend. After being nearly 50 degrees for the series opener on Friday, temperatures should be in the mid-50s and Saturday and in the 60s on Sunday.

Series History With Yale
The Bulldogs and Yale are meeting for the first time on the diamond.


vs. the Ivy League
The Citadel is 21-10 all-time against members of the Ivy League. The Citadel last faced an Ivy League foe when the Bulldogs split a four-game series against Dartmouth March 16-19, 2017.


Connoly Named S-A of Week
Left hander Shane Connolly was named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week after his performance against Coppin State. In the classroom, Connolly is a business administration major with a 3.934 grade-point average.


Clemson Game Postponed
Tuesday's game at Clemson was postponed due to weather. The game will now be played May 5 at 6 p.m.


600 Wins
The Citadel's sweep over Coppin State gave head coach Tony Skole his 600th career victory as a head coach.


Opening Weekend Sweep
The Bulldogs sweep of Coppin State on opening weekend is the first since The Citadel swept Air Force to open the 2015 season.


Extra Base Hits
The Citadel offense collected 15 extra-base hits on opening weekend. Ten of the extra-base hits came in the series finale. The Bulldogs collected seven doubles, two triples and a home run in the finale.


Reeves Strikes Out 10
Sophomore Cameron Reeves struck out 10 in his first start against Coppin State. He is the first Bulldog hurler to record 10 strikeouts in a game since JP Sears fanned 20 against VMI on March 24, 2017.


18 Strikeouts
The Bulldog pitching staff struck out 18 Coppin State hitters on Feb. 15. Starter Cameron Reeves fanned 10, while Caleb Speedy and Devin Beckley each struck out three. Gant Starling added the final two strikeouts.


Series Strikeouts
The Bulldog pitching staff fanned 43 batters in the series against Coppin State. It is the most strikeouts in a three-game series since the Bulldogs struck out 46 VMI hitters on March 24-26, 2017. It is also the first time since the VMI series the 'Dogs have recorded double-digit strikeouts in all three games of a series.


Two-Way Ches
Ches Goodman did it with his bat and with his arm in the series finale against Coppin State. The sophomore went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, while also tossing three shutout innings. He allowed just two hits and struck out four.


On Deck
The Bulldogs return to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park to face Yale in a three-game series Feb. 21-23. First pitch in the series opener is set for 4 p.m.
