CHARLESTON, S.C. - Tim Ebbecke has been named the assistant coach for The Citadel's volleyball team. The announcement was made by head coach Dave Zelenock on Monday.

Ebbecke joins the Bulldog staff after spending the 2019 season as an assistant for Purdue University's volleyball program. He primarily served as the co-defensive coordinator, as well as, the middle and opposite hitters' coach. The Boilermakers made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen since 2013.

 "We are really excited to get an assistant coach in our program with power five coaching and high level playing experience." said Zelenock. "From day one in the process, Tim really expressed how much he wanted to be a part of this program in the next phase of building it."

"Losing coach Cole was hard, but we feel like we found someone who can match that energy and passion for volleyball, our players and The Citadel. With practice and the school moving to online courses, his first days will be spent getting to know our players, the systems we use, and understanding The Corps and what life is like for our athletes. Our goal, as always, is to win the Southern Conference Tournament."

A graduate of Mount Olive, Ebbecke helped the volleyball team to a pair of Conference Carolinas championships in 2010 and 2011. He broke the school record for blocks per set with 1.20, and is fourth in the school's history for solo blocks, block assists, and total blocks.
