HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders right from the get-go with a pair of shots from Yosue and Dix in the first two minutes.
- The 'Dogs out-shot the Eagles 9-2 in the first half alone, taking three shots before GS managed its first attempt.
- With the Bulldogs continually on the attack, it was only a matter of time before the ball found the back of the net, and Dix delivered the first goal in the 21st minute on the Bulldogs sixth shot of the game. Yosue gathered the ball on the defensive third, taking a few dribbles towards midfield where she sent the pass forward to Dix, who was sprinting up the far side. Dix needed just two touches to make it to top of the 18-yard box, juking a defender before sending the ball into the lower 90 for the score.
- After Yosue made an attempt at a goal of her own in the 23rd minute, Dix once again found the back of the net. Yosue recorded her eighth career assist as she sent the ball to Dix, who once again deftly scored.
- Georgia Southern was able to take advantage of seven substitutions over the next 10 minutes, getting fresh legs into the contest, before DeAngelo cut the deficit to just one.
- The second half was very similar to the first with the Bulldogs pushing the attack and continuing to apply pressure. The Citadel out-shot Georgia Southern 9-4 in the period, with the Eagles managing to find a shape near the middle portion of the half.
- With just under 10 minutes left to play, GS was hit with a red card, resulting in having to play the closing minutes down a player. The Bulldogs took advantage of the situation and managed to keep the ball out of the Eagles' possession for much of the time.
- The Bulldogs took six corner kicks compared to just one by the Eagles.
- Dix led all players with five shots, including four being on frame.
- Yosue was just behind with four shots, two being on frame.
- Freshman Jess Newton made her collegiate debut between the pipes, recording a pair of saves en route to the win.
