MACON, Ga. – The Citadel men's and women's cross country teams opened the Fall 2020 season Saturday morning at the Julius Johnson Invitational hosted by Mercer and Middle Georgia.

Men's Distance: 8,000 meters (8K)
Women's Distance: 5,000 meters (5K)

The Bulldogs will be off until Saturday, Oct. 3 when they travel to Columbia to take part in a meet hosted by Columbia College. The 'Dogs will close out the Fall 2020 campaign on Friday, Oct. 16 at the Chanticleer Challenge in Conway.

MEN'S RACE
- The men's team finished second of the three NCAA teams with three players finishing back-to-back-to-back, highlighted by sophomore Andrew Smith with a fifth-place time of 27:44.68.
- Fellow sophomore Ty Duben finished sixth with a personal-best 8K time of 27:52.83, while freshman Will Ray was just behind him with a seventh-place time of 27:53.46.
- Freshman Bryce Baglia finished 12th overall with a time of 28:42.21 in his collegiate debut.
- Sophomore Devon Heisler wrapped up his morning with a time of 29:08.08 to finish 15th overall.
- Freshman Robert Perrecone rounded out the men's squad with a time of 29:20.25, finishing 17th.
WOMEN'S RACE
- On the women's side, sophomore Heidi Fortin led the way with a sixth-place effort, turning in a time of 19:49.36, as the Bulldogs finished fifth as a team.
- Senior Casey Miller finished 19th overall with a time of 21:24.23.
- Freshman Gabby Shea turned in a time of 21:33.44 to finish 22nd in her collegiate debut.
- Sophomore Grace Wolfe finished the race in a time of 21:46.20, coming home 24th overall.
- Senior Amber Opp finished 29th with a time of 22:43.55.
- Senior Kenslee Padgett rounded out the Bulldogs' squad with a 36th-place finish in a time of 25:08.23.
