Bulldogs Set Two Records on Second Day of VMI Winter Relays

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Citadel set one school record and another freshman record on the second day of the VMI Winter Relays in Lexington, Virginia.
 
Men's Breakdown
  • Kane Duncan captured the victory in the 500-meters with a time of 1:05.93. The time was the third fastest in program history.
  • Treonte Newton took second in the event with a time of 1:08.19.
  • Jalen Davis placed eighth in the race with a time of 1:12.01.
  • Prince Howard-Whitaker took third in the shot put with a throw of 47'0.25".
  • Devin Merrick cleared 15'1 to take third place in the pole vault. The clearance ranks fourth on the school's all-time indoor list.
  • Lindsay Pierce cleared 14'7.25" to take seventh in the event.
  • Prince Moody 6'2.75" to take fourth in the high jump.
  • Stephen Kraeling placed sixth after also clearing 6'2.75"
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of Duncan, Newton, Aidan Richter and Davis placed second with a time of 3:28.70.
  • Timiebi Ogobri took sixth in the 200-meters with a time of 22.61. He was also seventh in the 60-meters with a time of 7.10.
  • Richter took fifth in the 800-meters with a time of 1:59.16.
  • Ty Duben finished seventh in the 3000-meters with a time of 9:10.93.
 
Women's Breakdown
  • Heidi Fortin set a new indoor school record in the 3,000m with a time of 10:35.38.
  • The time breaks the old record of 10:36.49 set by Jackie Thompson at the Southern Conference championship meet in 2015.
  • The freshman quartet of Mecca Jackson, Jay Mitchell, Leah Murray and Gabby Shea ran a 4:11.82 in the 4x400-meter relay to establish new freshman record at The Citadel.
  • Tamia Burch ran a7.99 to take home the title in the 60-meter dash. She bested her time of 8.11 in the qualifying round.
  • Murray placed third in the 60m with a time of 8.09.
  • Jackson finished eighth in the event with a time of 8.47.
  • Jackson added a sixth-place finish in the 500-meters with a time of 1:27.40.
  • Mitchell placed sixth in the event with a time of 1:27.71.
  • Shea finished in eighth place with a time of 1:28.06.
  • Murray ran a personal-best 26.92 to place sixth in the 200-meters. The time was good enough for 10th all-time at The Citadel.
  • Burch ran a 27.01 to finish eighth.

The Bulldogs return to the track Feb. 13 at the USC Indoor Open.
