Track and Field Heads to USC Indoor Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams will compete in their final regular season meet of the indoor season as they travel to the USC Indoor Open on Saturday. The event will be streamed live on SEC Network+.

The meet will feature Auburn, Benedict, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, Georgia (7/3), Mississippi State, Northern Colorado, Savannah State, South Carolina, South Carolina State and Southern Wesleyan.

The Bulldogs last competed two weeks at the VMI Winter Relays. The Citadel closed out the event by setting two school records. Heidi Fortin set the indoor record in the 3,000-meters with a time of 10:35.38, while the freshman quartet of Mecca Johnson, Jay Mitchell, Leah Murray and Gabby Shea ran a 4:11.82 in the 4x400m relay to establish a new freshman record. Tamia Burch took home the 60-meter title with a time of 7.99.

On the men's side, Kane Duncan capture the championship in the 500-meters with a time of 1:05.93. Prince Howard-Whitaker took home third place in the shot put and the weight throw.

The Bulldogs will close out the indoor season on Feb. 27-28 at the Southern Conference Indoor Championships in Lexington, Virginia.
