Bulldogs Sweep Individual, Team Honors

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Citadel men's and women's cross country teams swept the individual and team titles as the 15^th Annual Sand Shark Invitational at the Hardeeville School Complex.

Heidi Fortin took home the top spot on the women's side, finishing the 5K course in a time of 19:03.2. Sam Sharnas was the top finisher on the men's side with a time of 26:01.5 over the 8K course.

Women's Race

The Bulldogs won the team title with a score of 33 points.
All five of the Bulldog runners finished in the Top 15.
Heidi Fortin won the race by 20 seconds with a time of 19:03.2.
Amber Opp finished third overall with a time of 19:56.9.
Rebecca McCorkendale finished just behind Opp in a time of 19:57.4
Kennedy DeLancy ran a time of 24:43.2 to finish 11^th.
Claire Thomas rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs with a 14^th place finish in a time of 30:07.3.

Men's Race

The Bulldogs took home the top spot with a team score of 19 points.
All seven runners finished in the Top 11, with The Citadel taking home each of the top three spots.
Sam Sharnas won the event in a time of 26:01.5, over a minute faster than his nearest competitor.
Ty Duben finished second in a time of 27:15.0.
Duben just narrowly edged team Andrew Smith, who ran a time of 27:15.5.
Robert Perrecone placed sixth with a time of 28:16.3.
He was followed by teammate Devon Heisler, who was seventh in a time of 28:27.9.
Aidan Richter had his best finish as a Bulldog, placing eighth in a time of 28:41.3.
Hayden Hare finished just outside of the Top 10 with a time of 30:24.4
