Location: Anderson, S.C. (Trojan Stadium)
Series: The Citadel leads 1-0

How It Happened
  • Anderson grabbed an early 1-0 lead at the 11:40 mark as the ball ricocheted around the box, ultimately finding its way into the back of the net off the foot of Gabbie Fleming to give the Trojans an early lead on their home field.
  • Fifteen minutes later, The Citadel found the equalizer. Driving down the left side of the field, Logan Dix slotted a pass through to Ellie Burgess, and the graduate student fired past the Anderson goalkeeper to level the match midway through the opening half.
  • Another assist from Dix, this time to Devyn Nyhart, gave The Citadel its first lead of the afternoon at the 33:45 mark. Dix sent the ball across the face of the goal, and Nyhart slid in from the right side to hammer it home for the one-goal lead that would hold up through the halftime break.
  • The Citadel threatened several times early in the second half before breaking through in the 57th minute, getting an insurance goal from Burgess. Zoey Conrad served it up, and Burgess fired home to secure the first multi-goal match of her career.
  • Dix rounded out the scoring just over two minutes later as Marie Le Gallo found the senior in the box, and Dix's header beat the keeper to give her five points on the afternoon.
  • The Trojans threatened only once over the final 30 minutes of the match, as Brie Sikes stonewalled Bethany Morgan in the 85th minute to maintain the final 4-1 scoreline.

Inside the Numbers
  • The Citadel extended its unbeaten run to five consecutive matches, tying the program record previously set from Sept. 15 to Oct. 1, 2010, in the midst of the program's top season that saw that Bulldogs win 12 matches. The Bulldogs have not dropped a decision since falling 1-0 against then-No. 12 Pittsburgh on Sept. 27.
  • Ellie Burgess ended her goalscoring drought in style, netting a pair of goals as she found the back of the net for the first time since Sept. 30, 2018. The multi-goal match was the first of Burgess' career and the third for The Citadel this season after Logan Dix had a pair of two-goal outings in the fall.
  • The Citadel came from behind to claim a victory for the first time since erasing a two-goal deficit against Presbyterian in a 3-2 win on Sept. 15, 2019.
  • Sunday's four goals were the most for The Citadel in a single match since a 7-0 shutout of Columbia International on Sept. 19, 2019.
  • Logan Dix notched her first-ever match with multiple assists, dishing out helpers on the goals from Burgess and Nyhart in the opening half. Her 18 points (eight goals, two assists) this season are already tied for 10th on The Citadel's all-time single-season points chart.
  • Both Zoey Conrad and Marie Le Gallo tallied their first assists of the season.

Up Next
The Citadel will head home to WLI Field for the first time this spring on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. as the Bulldogs welcome Jacksonville to Charleston. The Dolphins own a 2-1-1 record in the all-time series, but The Citadel will be aiming for its first-ever home victory against Jacksonville; in the most recent meeting between the two sides, the Bulldogs and Dolphins battled to a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes on Sept. 22, 2019, at WLI Field.
