Inside The Numbers
0 - Defensive back
Javonte Middleton will become the first Bulldog to wear #0 this spring. The number was introduced in the fall by the NCAA and will be worn by the Military Captain each year for the Bulldogs.
1 - Quarterback
Jaylan Adams will make his first career start on Saturday. The converted defensive back appeared in all four games in the fall as a quarterback or kickoff returner.
16 - Wide receiver
Raleigh Webb enters the spring season tied for second on the school's all-time list with 16 career touchdown receptions. He is tied with Brian Baima and Scooter Johnson.
43 - All-American linebacker
Willie Eubanks III recorded 43 tackles in the four games played during the fall season. He had at least eight tackles in all four games, including a career-high 14 against Eastern Kentucky.
140 - Saturday's game against Mercer will be 140 days since the Bulldogs last game at Army West Point on Oct. 10, 2020.
The Game
The Citadel opens spring action on the road as the Bulldogs hit the road to take on Mercer on Feb. 27. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. from Five Star Stadium.
Radio Coverage
All games this season can be heard live on 92.1-FM/102.1-FM/1450-AM in the Charleston. The voice of the Bulldogs, Luke Mauro, will be on the call.
ESPN+
Saturday's game will be broad on ESPN+ with David Jackson, Jared Singleton and Kristin Banks on the call. The game will also be the Ingles SoCon Game of the Week.

The early forecast is calling for tCemperatures in the low 70s with just a very slight chance of rain.
vs. Mercer
The Bulldogs and Bears are meeting for the 18th time overall with The Citadel holding an 11-5-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Bulldogs have won each of the last two meetings, including a 35-24 victory in the last meeting.
Last Trip to Macon
The 'Dogs had an exciting finish in their last trip to Macon during the 2018 season. After Mercer scored to tie the game with just over a minute to play, Rod Johnson returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 38-31 victory.
Spring Football
The Bulldogs will be playing football in the spring for the first time in program history. The spring is normally reserved for 15 practices to get ready for the fall.
Football in the Fall
The Citadel played four games during the fall. The shortened schedule included three games against FBS opponents. The Bulldogs faced South Florida, Clemson and Army West Point on the road, while hosting Eastern Kentucky.
QB1
Saturday will mark the first career start under center for quarterback Jaylan Adams. Adams moved to QB from defensive back last spring. He appeared in all four games during the fall, rushing for 134 yards on 33 carries and going 3-of-6 for 20 yards.
Cadet 0
Defensive back Javonte Middleton will become the first Bulldog to wear #0 in a game. The number will be worn each season by the team's Military Captain.
Eubanks Preseason Player of Year
Linebacker Willie Eubanks III was selected as the Southern Conference Preseason Defensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches. He is the reigning conference defensive player of the year.
