LEXINGTON, Va. – The Citadel wrestling team closes out the regular season on Feb. 5 as they Bulldogs travel to Lexington, Virginia to face App State and VMI. The Bulldogs and Mountaineers will wrestle at 5:15 p.m., while The Citadel and VMI are set to begin at 7p.m. Both matches can be viewed on ESPN+.
The Citadel enters the matches with an overall record of 4-4, 3-3 in Southern Conference action. App State comes in at 5-2 overall and 5-1 in conference action, while VMI is 3-4 overall and 2-3 in SoCon action.
The Bulldogs and Mountaineers will be meeting for the 58
th time on the mat with App State holding a 47-8-2 advantage in the series. The Citadel is 20-21 all-time against VMI.

Michael McAleavey enters the final two matches with a 6-0 record in Southern Conference matches. He is 8-0 in dual matches and 10-1 overall on the season. McAleavey is looking to become the first Bulldog heavyweight to go undefeated in conference action since Odie Delaney went 7-0 during the 2012-13 season.
