CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel football team scored in all three phases Saturday in a convincing 26-7 victory over Furman in the 100
th all-time meeting between the two schools.

How It Happened
- Special teams got things rolling in the first quarter as Kyler Estes blocked a punt that was scooped up by Hayden Johnson in the end zone for a touchdown.
- The wind factored in on the ensuing kickoff as it knocked the ball down and Ryland Ayers hustled down to recover the ball.
- Two players later, Jaylan Adams went around the right side for a 25-yard touchdown run.
- Furman got on the board in the second quarter on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Hamp Sisson to Ryan Miller.
- Furman took the opening kickoff of the second half and drove deep into Bulldog territory. The defense held its ground as it stopped the Paladins three times from inside the five yard line.
- An interception from Wilson Henricks III set up the Bulldogs next score in the fourth quarter.
- Two plays after the interception, Adams outran the defense for a 43-yard touchdown.
- The defense came up big again on the next possession as pressure from Anthony Britton Jr. popped the ball in the air and Jay Smith hauled in the interception and rumbled 31-yards for the touchdown.

- The victory is the second-straight over Furman.
- The victory also marked the first time since 2016 that the Bulldogs defeated Furman and Wofford in the same season.
- The Bulldogs score touchdowns on offense, defense and special teams. It marked the first time this happened since Sept. 4, 2010 against Chowan.
- The victory was the first without completing a pass since beating Western Carolina on Nov. 3, 2018.
- The Bulldog offense rushed for 286 yards on 70 carries.
- Jaylan Adams led the balanced attack with 98 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries.
- Clay Harris carried 18 times for 67 yards, while Cooper Wallace and Nathan Storch each carried 13 times. Wallace finished with 50 yards and Storch 44.
- Matt Campbell played a big part in the field position game in the fourth quarter. His two punts in the quarter were downed at the two-yard line and the four-yard line.
- Kyler Estes was officially credited with the blocked punt in the first quarter.
- Hayden Johnson jumped on the loose ball in the end zone for his first career touchdown.
- The blocked punt was the first since Sean-Thomas Faulkner blocked two punts at Elon in 2019.
- Anthony Britton Jr. turned in another outstanding performance as he finished with a game-high 13 tackles. His pressure late in the game resulted in the interception return for touchdown.
- Jay Smith's interception return for a touchdown was the first for a Bulldog since Noah Dawkins returned an interception for a touchdown in the 2018 season opener at Wofford.
- Bradley Peery made his first career start and finished with six tackles, including 2.0 for loss.
- Carson Hatchett recorded his first career sack late in the fourth quarter.
- Wilson Hendricks III registered his first career interception to set up a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
- The Bulldog defense limited Furman to 129 rushing yards. Forty-four of those yards came on the second to last play of the game.
- The Bulldogs possessed the ball for 39:43, including 12:11 of the first quarter.
