COLUMBIA, S.C. – JP Caglione and Mecca Jackson established new school records as The Citadel claimed 14 top-10 finishes at the USC Open hosted by South Carolina on Saturday afternoon in the squad's final regular season tuneup before the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships.

Men's Results

JP Caglione, the reigning SoCon Field Athlete of the Week, broke the school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 187-10 (57.25m) to finish fifth overall. Prince Howard-Whitaker (ninth place) and Graham Holland (16th overall) also set new personal-best marks in the event.
Sam Blumer and Devin Merrick each earned top-10 finishes in the pole vault, finishing third and sixth, respectively. Blumer reached a height of 15-11 (4.85m) to tie his personal best and Merrick hit 15-5 (4.70m). Both Sam LaRosa and Lindsay Pierce logged personal-best marks of 14-5.25 (4.40m) in the event.
In the javelin throw, Evan McDonald logged a heave of 163-6 (49.84m) to finish fifth, and Wesley Evans took 10th overall after a throw of 136-6 (41.61m).
Competing in the high jump, Prince Moody reached a height of 6-1.25 (1.86m) to finish in eighth place.
The men's 4x100m squad of Timiebi Ogobri, Treonte Newton, Mac Strunk and Kane Duncan crossed the line in 48.13 to finish eighth overall.
Duncan also logged a personal-best in the 400m run with a time of 48.66, the sixth-best time in The Citadel's history.

Women's Results

Mecca Jackson's school-record breaking performance came in the 100m dash, breaking the tape in 12.11 to place sixth overall. Jackson also established the freshman record and the No. 2 time in The Citadel's history in the 200m dash with a time of 25.09.
Jackson, Leah Murray, Cyla Byrd and Jay Mitchell ran together in the 4x100m relay ran the second-fastest time ever by any Bulldog quartet in the event, placing 10th in 48.13.
Milan Williams logged a pair of top-10 finishes, taking eighth place in the shot put with the No. 2 toss of all-time (43-4.25/13.21m) and sixth in the hammer throw (173-9/52.96m).
In the javelin throw, Anna Barfield and Shannon Ziccarello earned back-to-back finishes, taking seventh and eighth place.
Murray logged a personal-best run in the 200m dash of 25.94 to earn the No. 10 spot in The Citadel's record books.
Casey Miller's run of 5:07.08 in the 1,500m run was a personal-best and the ninth-best time in school history.
Emily Hickey's leap of 10-4 (3.15m) in the pole vault was the third-best mark in program history.

The Citadel will return to action at the SoCon Outdoor Championships on the first weekend of May. Western Carolina will serve as the host of the event on May 1 and 2 in Cullowhee, N.C.
