Bulldogs Late Home Runs Not Enough

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Citadel got a pair of ninth inning home runs from Cole Simpson and Ben Hutchins but it was not enough as No. 13 South Carolina handed the Bulldogs a 9-5 defeat Tuesday night at Founders Park.

  • The lead grew in the eighth on a two-run homer from Brady Allen.
  • The Bulldogs got on the board in the ninth inning after Noah Mitchell drew a walk and Cole Simpson delivered a no doubt two-run shot to right field.
  • The scoring continued in the ninth inning as Anthony Badala singled to center and Wesley Lane was hit by a pitch.
  • Ben Hutchins drove in both players with a towering shot deep over the wall in left field.
